Those fights between police and the bad guys you see on television also happen in real life. And just like on TV, the good guys win.

This altercation happened in October 2016 when a man decided to pull off his shirt and 'duke it out' with a Glenwood Springs Police Officer and a Garfield County Sheriff Deputy.

This amateur video taken by a bystander shows what happened to the man when he started fighting with the two officers.

Officers were initially called to respond to a man identified as 35-year-old Joel Lohmeyer who was screaming at and assaulting people.

Glenwood Springs Police Chief Terry Wilson said the man told officers he wasn't going down without a fight.

During the altercation between police and Lohmeyer, the Sheriff Deputy was punched in the face, leaving a wound that required 20 stitches.

After being tasered twice, Lohmeyer was wrestled to the ground, handcuffed, arrested and charged with a number of counts sure to include resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

There's a reason why the song by the Bobby Fuller Four is so memorable, it's title and lyrics, "I Fought the Law.. and the law won" is so obviously true.
