My son is on spring break and visiting from Missouri. He's a thrill ride fan so when I heard there was a theme park on the western slope, I  wanted to make sure we took it in. I understand next week is spring break for most schools around here. We made the trip up to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park this week and had a blast!

When I was first told there was a theme park in Glenwood Springs, my question was "where?" I've driven through on I-70 several times and didn't recall seeing anything that resembled a roller-coaster along the way. "So where is it?" I asked. I was told, "it's on top of Iron Mountian." That explains a lot.

The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is one of Glenwood Springs’ most popular attractions. There's the cave tours, rides, and other cool stuff to see and do.  The adventure starts with a thrill as you ride the Iron Mountian Tram to the top. Waiting in line for the Soaring Eagle Zip Line we were behind several college kids on spring break. They seemed to genuinely enjoy their afternoon poking fun at their friends taking their turns on the zip line.

Not all the attractions are open during the off-season. My son was a bit disappointed the Cliffhanger Roller Coaster wasn't in operation. However, the Giant Canyon Swing and Alpine Coaster more than made up for it. The added element of being on top of a mountain makes any thrill ride that much more thrilling! If you've got spring fever, ready to get out and have some fun, consider a trip to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. It's a great way to kill a spring break afternoon.
