Garden Of The Gods Getting Locked Up

Criminal activity inside the park requires a gate.

It's a shame. The Garden Of The Gods is one of Colorado's "Crown Jewels." It's too one of the states most visited places. Garden of the Gods draws millions of people from around the world. However, after dark, the place has become dangerous.

There's been reported fights, car break-ins, gunshots, all within the park. In response to all of this illegal activity, gates are going up at all of the road entrances. Four gates are already in place with five more to be installed starting next week.

Colorado Springs parks department says the gates will also allow maintenance crews to easily close roadways for special events and other situations.

The new Garden of the Gods hours are; 5 AM to 10 PM. from May 1 to Oct. 31 and 5 AM to 9 PM. from Nov. 1 to April 30.
