I had the pleasure of getting to hang out with Gallagher this week. He's in town taking in Grand Junction before his show Friday night at The Mesa Theater. It's going to be awesome!

He's one the most successful comedians of all time. He's a smart guy too having completed his degree in chemical engineering in 1970. Let's face it, who's want's to be an engineer when you can tell jokes for a living? He said to me Friday evening "Retire? from what? I feel like I've never really had a job. When you do what you love, you never work a day in your life."

Gallagher's comedy took off in 1969 after moving to California. There he honed his skills at The Comedy Store and The Ice House. After being turned down several times he finally made his Tonight Show debut on December, 5th 1975. His career is revolutionary in that he practically invented the comedy special. During the 1980's he did 14 specials for Showtime. He even ran for Governor of the state of California garnering over 5,000 votes.

The show's this friday night at The Mesa Theater. Get your ticekts while you can. They're going fast. As of Monday, half the house was already gone. Gallagher will be hanging out on The Sunset Terrace at The Avalon this Thursday evening. It's an 80's party! Our sister station Mix104.3 is hosting. There will be a costume contest for best couple, male, and female with Lukas Nelson tickets and other prizes on the line. It's only fitting he should be there, coming as himself of course.
