I consider myself in pretty good shape, but I'm no runner. For those of you that are, one of the areas marque events is coming up Saturday, November 7th at 9am.

The City of Fruita has teamed up with CMU and the Rim Rock Marathon to host their own version of the Aspen Street Mile on November 7th.

The run leaves from Circle Park and run down Aspen Street to Sycamore Street and then back to the park. After the run, (my favorite part) there's music provided by Cavalcade and cheering on of the participants of the Rim Rock Marathon and they finish in Cirle Park as well.  That Rim Rock Marathon is a whole other topic of discussion and odviouly for the hard-core runners.

There's a $10 entry fee for the 0.038 Marathon with part of the proceeds going to Girls on the Run.  If you're not familiar, Girls on The Run inspires girls to take charge of their lives and define the future on their terms. It’s a place where girls learn that they can. No limits. No constraints. Only opportunities to be remarkable.

There are 5 Categories for the run: Men's 35 and under, Men's 36 and older, Women's 35 and under, Women's 36 and older, and Family fun run/walk. Prizes for the first places finishes.

After investigating the Rim Rock Marathon, happening the same weekend, the 0.035 Fruita Marathon doesn't look so bad. I've got about a month to try and pull myself into shape. Hey, if I can do it, anyone can. Marathon's rock!...I think. We'll see you there.
