The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Fruita over the weekend has been identified.

It is unknown exactly when the motorcycle crash occurred, but the Fruita Police Department says it's likely the crash happened in the early morning hours on Saturday (October 22).

A ditch rider found the wrecked motorcycle around 6 a.m. Saturday near 18 1/2 and L Road. Police say the crash happened when the motorcycle went off of the road, crashed into a cable box, and went over a ditch.

As a result of the crash the victim, 40-year-old Brian Horner of Fruita, was thrown into the ditch. His body was discovered about an hour later near 17 1/2 Road.

The Mesa County Coroner's report states Horner was not wearing a helmet and his blood alcohol was almost twice the legal limit at the time of the accident.
