Fort Carson Soldier Found Dead was a 25-Year Veteran

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) — Fort Carson says a soldier who was found dead amid an investigation into a possible rape was a decorated 25-year veteran.

The Army said yesterday that 49-year-old Master Sgt. Joseph P. Bascio was found dead in his home on post Monday.

The cause of death hasn't been disclosed.

Fort Carson spokeswoman Dee McNutt says Bascio was one of two soldiers under investigation in a rape that might have happened over the weekend.

No charges have been filed.
