And so it has come to pass, a live action DC Comics superhero who seems to actually enjoy being a superhero. His name is the Flash and he's coming to television this Fall.

Actor Grant Gustin will portray a version of the Barry Allen incarnation of the scarlet speedster, a police scientist who encountered Arrow Oliver Queen in two episodes of the Arrow series. Produced by DC Entertainment, written by Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti, The Flash could mark the first instance of a live-action DC Comics superhero smiling since the Batman of the 1960s, which would be in keeping with the character’s traditionally bright idiom, as defined by original creators Robert KanigherJohn Broome and Carmine Infantino.
