Most fans probably weren't thrilled when they heard the Denver Broncos had traded for Mark Sanchez, but here're five reasons to be glad Sanchez is a Bronco.

Mark Sanchez may or not be the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback when the 2016 NFL season commences in September, but every indication is that he will, at least, be given a chance to compete for the job. Maybe these five points will give a glimmer of hope and optimism to Denver fans who have been sent into a frenzy after losing two quarterbacks in less than a week, leaving them to wonder who will lead the defending Super Bowl champions into the future.

1) Mark Sanchez had a stellar college career at USC, with his Trojans winning the Rose Bowl three consecutive seasons and being named the game's most valuable player in 2009. His winning ways followed him, initially to the NFL, where he became the first rookie quarterback to win his first three starts.

2)Mark Sanchez was a first round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2009, the fifth player took overall. He was the second quarterback taken in that year's draft with Matthew Stafford going number one overall to Detroit. Obviously, scouts thought highly of Sanchez's potential to be an NFL quarterback.

3)Mark Sanchez took the New York Jets to the AFC Championship game in consecutive years, though the Jets lost both games.( One of those losses came at the hands of Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.) Sanchez, however, became just the fourth rookie quarterback in NFL history to win his first post-season game, and the second to do it on the road. Sanchez brings valuable playoff experience with him.

4)Mark Sanchez has had a bumpy career, but, to his credit, he has 10 fourth quarter comebacks and 12 game-winning drives. That bodes well with his new team, considering the number of 4th quarter victories the Broncos secured in 2015. Sanchez has 72 career starts in the NFL with a win/loss record of 37-35. There is something to be said for experience.

5) Mark Sanchez off the field has been involved in a number of charitable causes, which makes us think he may be a "good guy",  the sort of individual the Broncos would  want on their team, in their community, and in their locker room. Charities that Sanchez has been involved with include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Sam's Club's Giving Made Simple, and the Teddy Atlas Foundation.
