It's never too early to start planning ahead and the organizers for the annual 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise are whetting fans appetites by unveiling the first eight performers for the early 2014 voyage. They include Fear Factory, Symphony X, Overkill, Death Angel, Soilwork, Septicflesh, Finntroll and Dark Tranquillity.

The 2014 voyage sets sail out of Miami on Jan. 27 and will visit a still-to-be-determined location before returning on Jan. 31. The reason the destination has not been revealed is because the cruise organizers are allowing those wanting to participate to have a say in where the spot will be. A poll is expected to be posted on the cruise website shortly giving potential cruise participants a choice.

If the eight acts excite you, you should know that there will be 40 metal acts on board by the time all is said and done. Plus, fans will be able to enjoy meet and greets with their favorite bands, artist clinics and yes, there will be a belly-flop competition by the pool. The 14-story high, 880-foot long ship has three stages, over a dozen bars and lounges, a Vegas-style casino, a day spa and beauty salon, a fitness center and several sports facilities. And there are duty-free shops on board, several restaurants and an Internet café with WiFi access.

Public sales start this Monday (April 8), but if you have a promo code, you can get a jump on your purchase now. Check here for further booking information.
