Elk That Roughhoused With a Photographer Was Put Down

The young elk that was caught on video roughhousing a photographer was put down. Last week the video of a young bull elk jousting with a photographer hit the web and went viral. Park authorities didn't like it so they put the animal down.

I don’t really understand why they did this, I know if the animal acts like this now what would happen when he was full grown, he could really hurt someone. I get that part that the rut is going on and he wasn’t old enough to fight for a mate so why put him down?

The elk didn’t really hurt the photographer and I really doubt this would become a big issue. Once he was grown and could join in on the rut I don’t think he would seek out a human to fight with.

I think this is a very bad call by park officials and I bet they get some backlash from this.
