Grant helps get your pet fixed for less.

A grant from Animal Assistance Foundation is giving Mesa County pet owners the opportunity to get the service for considerably less. The program partnership between Mesa County Animal Services and local veterinarians started March 1st.

The average spay or neuter procedure can cost anywhere from $120 to $150. Mesa County Animal Services is providing vouchers for participating veterinarians to offer discounted service fees. Those who receive the vouchers will pay $25 and the vet will be reimbursed for the remaining cost of the procedure.

13 area veterinarians are participating. The vouchers are given at the discretion of the veterinarian to help those who might not be able to afford the procedure.

If you're interested, please contact your vet. First, you must show proof of current rabies vaccinations. If proof cannot be provided, your pet will be required to have the vaccination administered prior to the procedure.
