DirecTV has decided to ax their hilarious ad campaign featuring actor Rod Lowe. Competitor Comcast has complained to the National Advertising Division (NAD) about the ads and now has played right into DirecTV's hands.

Even the backlash from the painfully awkward Rod Lowe commercials didn't slow down the campaign so why would DirecTV pull the plug now?

To most people it should be as easy to rework the ads to make the NAD happy and keep running the campaign, right?

The Rod Lowe commercials have been widely popular for DirecTV, but any good advertising person will tell you to kill the campaign when it's hot.

It's a chess game of popularity and while DirecTV may be pulled these ads now I bet this isn't the last we have seen of Rod Lowe in their commercials.
