Families, friends and caregivers of a person with Alzheimer's-type dementia know how difficult it is to communicate with that person. A free program in Delta, open to the public, is designed to change that.

The program titled 'Validation Dementia Communication for Caregivers' shows people how to use a technique called 'validation' as a way of communicating with people suffering from dementia.

The program also focuses on helping people have empathy for the person with the disease and how best to reduce stress and increase happiness and dignity for victims of dementia.

The program will be held at the Delta County Memorial Hospital Oncology Center on Tuesday April 5 from 11:00 a.m. until Noon.

Even though the program is free, people attending are asked to RSVP or request additional information by calling 970-765-3125 or emailing arowan@region10.net
