Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has taken the precautions needed and is hopeful that his cancer battle is over. The rocker was first diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in the spring of 2013, and for a brief period appeared to be in remission, but the cancer came back and Campbell went through more treatment last year. Now Campbell says he's hoping he's beaten cancer.

In a new interview with Eddie Trunk on the 'That Metal Show' host's podcast, Campbell says, "I personally feel pretty good about this right now. I feel that it's gone. But, like I said, you never really know, and you've gotta keep your eye on it. If it's gonna come back, it's gonna come back in the next couple of years. But hopefully not, you know?!"

Last fall, Campbell had stem-cell treatment which would hopefully ward off a potential return of the cancer. He adds, "I seem to be in a good spot at the moment. You can never be too certain with these things, cause they can come creeping back. But after three rounds of chemo in the last two years, I did a stem-cell transplant in October. And the first PET scan that I did on New Year's Eve came back really, really good -- there's no sign of the tumors -- so hopefully I'm on the right path."

Campbell is taking a positive outlook toward his treatment and says he'll continue to do scans and follow-ups in the coming years just to make sure, but at the present time he is "certainly feeling healthy."

In addition to Def Leppard, Campbell is best known for his stints playing with Dio and Whitesnake. Check out more of Eddie Truck's chat with Vivian Campbell on the Eddie Trunk Podcast via Podcast One.
