Time waits for no one, not even Dave Grohl. As proof, here's a Saturday Night Live sketch that was cut when the long-running comedy show's Dec. 16 episode ran long — featuring the Foo Fighters frontman as a wolfman guarding the door at an exclusive New York City club.

Starring Beck Bennett, the digital short follows the travails of Bennett's character as he embarks on an increasingly surreal quest to hook up with his friends on New Year's Eve. After making his way from the Lotus Lounge to the sewer, he ends up in a boundless white void, where he's greeted by Grohl's wolfman character — and forced to part with a closely guarded secret in order to gain access to the venue.

"That was very brave of you to share," Grohl responds after Bennett's character whispers his secret. "Happy New Year's."

Of course, even after going through all that to meet up with his friends, you know things won't work out for Bennett the way he planned. We won't spoil it for you here, but you can check out the complete skit embedded above; the band promoted it in suitably tongue-in-cheek fashion via Twitter, joking through their official account that "someone looks familiar" in the bit.

Grohl was on hand with the Foos elsewhere in the episode, with the band contributing a pair of musical performances — one of which was a Christmas medley that melded "Everlong" with "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" and the Peanuts anthem "Linus & Lucy." Watch that portion of the show below.
