The Mesa Theater once again has been shut down by a court order but this time authorities have the locks changed. This is a very bad sign for the embattled downtown concert venue.

Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. the Mesa County Sheriff's office removed the occupants from the building and had all of the locks changed. They posted the order in the window which said 'all contents of the building have been given to the court-ordered receiver'.

This leaves much up in the air for concert goes in the Grand Valley. The Mesa Theater had a number of shows booked including Texas Hippie Coalition March 28, Mushroomhead April 3 and Black Label Society on April 16, among others.

Operator Eric Smith has yet to make a public statement about the closing or how he intends to deal with ticket holders of these upcoming shows.

On a personal note, it is very sad to see the Mesa Theater have it's doors closed. Over the past 15 years, 95 Rock has hosted a number of parties like the annual Halloween Costume Craze.

I'm not sure this bird can rise from the ashes but what a great time he had. It is a sad thing to see a place that was such iconic spot downtown close it's doors but who knows maybe someone will see the light and find a way to bring the Mesa theater back, let's hope so.
