Back in October, Slipknot returned with their first new album in six years -- '.5: The Gray Chapter' -- which topped the Billboard 200 chart. In a recent interview with Ronan McGreevy of The Irish Times, frontman Corey Taylor said the band is already “talking” about recording another album.

In the interview Taylor said that the six years between releasing 2008’s ‘All Hope Is Gone’ and 2014’s “.5: The Gray Chapter was "the musical equivalent of letting go of that long-held breath." He added that they hope to turn around new music for their fans much quicker this time around.

“We’re talking about it,” Taylor said. “We don’t want to rush right in and do anything. Now that we have told this story that we wanted to tell, we’re definitely thinking about it. Time will tell. This band has a habit of touring itself into the ground and it’s not an easy show to do.”

Taylor added, “By the time we’re done touring with this, we might need some time away, but you never say never.” He continued, “This album proved that we’re never at a loss for musical ideas. We’ve proved that we can do it well and still make the kind of music we want to make.”

The news echoes the recent quote from Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson who said, “We don’t want to spend the same amount of time between albums as we’ve done with the last two.”

While Slipknot fans will be excited about this news, what does it mean for Taylor’s other band? Taylor said, "Stone Sour is on a sort of hiatus at the moment.” He added, “We’ve been recording a couple of cover EPs that we’ve been talking about for a long time. We figured it would be the best time to do it. We finished the first six songs and we’ve got another seven that we’re working on right now. We’re doing it at a nice slow clip.”

Slipknot will kick off their European stint of their ‘Prepare For Hell Tour’ with Korn and King 810 in Dublin, Ireland on Jan. 14. Check out all their tour dates here.
