Colorado’s Best Kept Animal Secret: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
Everyone knows about the fabulous Denver Zoo, but Colorado's best-kept animal-secret is Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.
I remember visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo as a kid and thought it was amazing. All these years later it's even better.
Of course, you'll see all kinds of animals including giraffes, monkeys, bears, alligators, elephants, lions, monkeys and much more. Check out the giraffes with the live giraffe cam.
You can take a ride on the Mountain Sky Ride and get a view high above the zoo, plus you can get up close and personal with some of the animals in the 'My Big Backyard' area.
They also have animal feeding shows, keeper talks and demos, and several natural behavior animal shows including wild birds, Rocky Mountain goats, lions, and orangutans.
The zoo is open year round so you can make the trip just about any time. You'll find the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on the southwest side of Colorado Springs near the base of Pike's Peak. Don't forget your camera!
