If you're planning on turkey hunting this spring, you'll need to apply before February 5th.

Turkey hunting is growing in popularity across the country. For me, years ago back home in Missouri turkey hunting was an annual spring ritual. A friend of mine had a nice 40-acre plot of land near Truman Lake with a nice population of deer and turkey. He built a little cabin on the property. It wasn't much but it was a place to crash. Most years the spring turkey season would coincide with the crappie spawn. We'd get up early in the morning and go turkey hunting and crappie fish in the afternoon. And if conditions were right, we'd sneak in a little morel mushroom hunting too. If you can't tell, I've got a serious case of "spring fever."

If you're thinking about turkey hunting in Colorado there are a limited number of permits available. You'll need to apply with Colorado Parks & Wildlife before February 5th. You can do so by clicking HERE. The application fee is $7 for residents. If your name is drawn you'll need to pay for your license before the March 13th deadline. Also too, spring licenses are now $29.75. You can download the 2019 turkey hunting brochure by clicking HERE. It's got everything you need to know to prepare for your spring hunt. Good luck and gobble gobble!
