A soldier's happy homecoming is one of the most glorious sights.

Watching these 300 soldiers return safely to Fort Carson this week from Afghanistan does a heart good on many levels.

There is a feeling of gratitude to these soldiers for serving their country. There is a feeling of thankfulness for their safety. And there is the shared feeling of joy and happiness as we watch happy reunions with families and loved ones.

It is so great to see these soldiers welcomed home in such grand fashion. But, it also reminds me, as we get into the holiday season, of the thousands of American troops that won't be home for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. I pray that God keeps them safe until they can return home, and that they may feel the love of their families and the gratitude of the nation they serve.
