The Lady Mavericks have done it again. Not only have the Mavericks became RMAC Champions but they are now Division II South Central Regional Champions.

The Mavericks hosted the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout and beat Regis University, Fort Lewis and Colorado Christian to become RMAC Champions. After the RMAC Tournament, the Mavericks were still the #1 team in the Region and were awarded the host school for the Regional Tournament.

In the Regional tournament the Mavericks took out Fort Lewis College, University of Texas Permian Basin and last night Midwestern State University to become South Central Regional Champions.

The Mavericks fell back early in the game but were able to climb back before half time for a 31-31 tie. Bruna Deichman had 11 points in the first half and surprisingly Sharaya Selsor was held scoreless in the first half.

Coming out of half time the Mavs missed some wide open looks from three, and the mustangs took the lead with some easy layups. Throughout the half, lead changes would go back and forth. The Mavericks played great defense in the second half, leading to some turnovers and second chance points. With :30 seconds left the Mavericks were up by three and shut down the Mustangs in the final minutes to become South Central Regional Champions.

After it was all said and done the crowd rushed the courts and tears of happiness rushed from the girls' eyes. Kelsey Sigl and Katrina Selsor were named to the All-Tournament Team and Sigl was also named the Tournament Outstanding Player. Sigl ended the game with 24 points 6 rebounds 3 blocks and 2 steals. Bruna Deichman finished with 21 points.

The Mavericks will head to the NCAA Division II Elite 8 Tournament down in San Antonio, Texas to take on the Dowling Golden Lions in the first round.
