Colorado’s Marijuana Enforcement Division release new universal symbol.

In the ongoing effort to protect health and safety, the CMDE will now require this warning symbol displayed on all packaging and labeling for medical and retail cannabis products sold in Colorado. According to Michael Hartman, executive director of the Colorado Department of Revenue, “One truly universal symbol works to simplify and improve industry compliance with regard to packaging and labeling.”

Manufacturers must display the symbol on at least one side of their products. The medical products symbol will also include a capital "M" in the bottom of the diamond. They and retail marijuana packaging must display the symbol at least 1/2 x 1/2 in size. Edible marijuana-infused products must display the symbol at least 1/4 x 1/4 in size.

The idea is to make retail or medical marijuana products easy to identify and clearly communicate that the product contains THC and avoid unintentional ingestion. CMED reminds us to take the time to educate children and your out-of-state guests what the symbol means.
