A Clifton man has been arrested and is facing 45 counts of various charges all related to child sex crimes.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, 77-year-old Raymond Leonard has been arrested and is accused  of being a habitual sex offender. The alleged crimes occurred in Clifton and involved two children.

It is believed the sex crimes began in November 2010 and continued until as recently as the end of May of this year. The arrest came after the older of the two children provided specific information about years of abuse.

The lengthy list of charges against Leonard includes 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Sexual Assault on a Child as a Pattern of Abuse, Unlawful Sexual Contact, Habitual Sex Offender Against Children, and additional charges adding up to 45 total.

A warrant was issued and Leonard was arrested on Saturday (June 25). He is currently being held at the in the Mesa County Jail on a No Bond Hold.
