How about that wind last Saturday? Pretty bad, huh? As bad as it was in the valley, you should have experienced what was happening on Mt. Garfield. Here's a sample.

The wind really picked up around 10:30 Saturday morning, March 3. It just so happens it was a very busy day on the trail leading up Mt. Garfield. As a matter of fact, I've never seem so many people on the mountain.

As I made my way down, the wind really picked up. This video was shot on the single track trail which cuts horizontally across the Bookcliffs directly east of the "crown" on Mt. Garfield.

For a moment, I was struggling to keep my grip on my phone. The wind just about ripped it out of my hands.

Take a close look at the video. You'll see people in Palisade burning weeds. Are you really supposed to do that in high winds? Word on the street is you shouldn't.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend hiking up Mt. Garfield in windy conditions. The trail is relatively easy, but there are a few dangerous places, and it's a long way to the bottom.
