Breaking Benjamin Deliver Space-Themed ‘Ashes of Eden’ Video
Breaking Benjamin have enjoyed a steady climb up the charts with their current rock ballad "Ashes of Eden," and now there's a visual companion for the track.
The clip is set in outer space and centers on members of a space crew separated and longing for connection. Speaking with Billboard, who premiered the video, vocalist Ben Burnley calls the clip "sort of a modern sci-fi take on Adam and Eve," citing the desire of one member to flea safety in order to join his partner floating through space and plummeting to a planet below where their ashes become the building blocks for a new civilization.
"Billions of years go by and the earth becomes the earth as we know it, and they’ve sort of re-evolved into humans and have found each other again," explains the singer of the Kyle Cogen-directed clip.
As for the meaning of "Ashes of Eden," Burnley was more cryptic, stating, "I’ve come up musically listening to Nirvana and I absolutely idolized Kurt Cobain, and he always really was adamant about people finding their own meaning in what his songs were about. So I kind of take a page from his book and do the same thing where I like people to drawn their own conclusions."
"Ashes of Eden" is the third big radio single from Breaking Benjamin's Dark Before Dawn album, following "Failure" and "Angels Fall." The album debuted at No. 1 in 2015.
Breaking Benjamin have been touring Europe and just returned stateside for a North American co-headlining trek with Disturbed. See their upcoming dates here.
