A true sign that the outdoor season is about to begin, boat ramps are set to open in Western Colorado. Here's to another great season of fishing, camping and boating are ready to begin.

Two ramps are set to open on Monday in Delta County at Crawford State Park and Sweitzer Lake State Park. That means there is a ton to get done before you hit the water.

Pull out all of your life jackets and make sure you not only have enough for your boat, but they are all in good working order.

Make sure to check the battery, there is nothing worse than getting to the lake with a dead battery. I say if your battery is more than two years old you might want to get a new one.

You want to go over all of the electrics and lights to make sure they are in operating order. A quick way to get a ticket on the water is to not have the proper running lights.

Pull out your safety bag and make sure the first aid kit is stocked, the fire extinguisher is fully charged and you have a couple of flares on board.

Now, don't forget the trailer, make sure the turn signals are working and the tires are in good shape. Trust me it really sucks when you blow out a tire on the way to the lake.

One weekend of work can ensure a whole summer of fun in the sun with family and friends.
