Beer has been around since man figured out that fermentation of grain made an awesome concoction we know as beer. Beer has plenty of great health benefits, like bone strength. Is beer now a cold 'cure-all'?

Mature hops creates a bitter chemical called humulone which helps give beer flavor, but also is an antioxidant and anti-bacterial. Humlone according to a recent report also has the power to fight the common cold and illnesses in children.

The study was driven by Japanese beer maker Sapporo. A Sapporo researcher says, "The RS virus can cause serious pneumonia and breathing difficulties for infants and toddlers, but no vaccination is available at the moment to contain it."

Unfortunately there is not enough humulone in a can of beer to have an effect. You would have to drink over two-dozen cans of beer to get enough of the chemical. So you'd be pretty hammered, and would be taking in over 4,500 calories from beer.
