Three bears were euthanized after they destroyed homes and cars in Durango.

Joe Lewandowski, spokesperson for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife said a sow and two yearlings were shot on Saturday after one of them broke into a car.

Residents were reporting the bears had been breaking house windows, tearing doors off garages and breaking into cars.

Lewandowski said the bears had to be put down because they became too accustomed to humans and human food and would remain an issue in the area.

CPW had to put down a bear in Durango last summer after it bit two campers.
