A Pennsylvania school plans to arm students with rocks.

The Blue Mountain School District in Pennsylvania is having their students protect themselves against potential threats with rocks. “Every classroom has been equipped with a five-gallon bucket of river stone. If an armed intruder attempts to gain entrance into any of our classrooms, they will face a classroom full students armed with rocks and they will be stoned,” said Dr. David Helsel, testifying to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Education Committee in Harrisburg. “At one time I just had the idea of river stone, they're the right size for hands, you can throw them very hard and they will create or cause pain, which can distract,” continued Helsel.

This "stoning" practice would be part of the training for all teachers, staff, and students  executed in an active shooter situation. The rocks would be part of a last resort effort to disrupt the threat.

Is this a really good idea or absolutely absurd? I can see the argument either way. Is this, or something similar an action District 51 should consider?
