Anthrax ‘Wardance’ Their Way To Brewery Mastery During NYC ‘Beer Crawl’ [Photos]
Last night (March 28), members of Anthrax, specifically guitarists Scott Ian and Jonathan Donais, celebrated the release of their own craft beer, Wardance Pale Ale, with a special 'beer crawl' in New York City. Antics kicked off at 6PM at the award-winning watering hole Daddy-O on Bedford Street in the West Village. Within moments, the popular bar was packed to the brim with metalheads pounding down pints of the tasty pale ale.
Like ducks in a row, fans marched to the pub crawl's next stops, the chic Half Pint on West 3rd Street followed by the One Mile House on the Lower East Side, where even Life of Agony bassist Alan Robert was seen joining in on the booze ceremony. Chuck Williamson, owner and head brewer of Butternuts Beer & Ale Brewery, where 'Wardance' was born, was on hand to mingle with and talk to bar-hoppers about the brand new brew. The party continued with custom 'Wardance' pint glasses filled with the delicious and smooth ale being served nonstop to thirsty patrons. Meanwhile, friends of Anthrax helped commemorate the occasion by giving away special 'Wardance' t-shirts and stickers to lively fans in attendance.
By this point in the evening, and with much war dancing happening in my tummy (and brain), it was time for this photojournalist to call it a night. The crawl was technically scheduled to continue to beer shop Top Hops, with an after party at RMP Bar to follow. Additionally, fans reported seeing current Volbeat guitarist and former Anthrax member Rob Caggiano making the rounds and partaking in on the 'Wardance' experience.
Starting tonight (March 29) in Montclair, N.J., Anthrax and Killswitch Engage will kick off their co-headlining "Killthrax" tour, featuring openers The Devil Wears Prada, plus Jasta and Code Orange on select dates. The trek runs through May 7 in Boston.
Anthrax recently unleashed a limited-edition 7-inch box set of their latest album For All Kings. For more info on the release, head here.
