Colorado bears are often in the news, and sadly this is another bear story that ends badly.

Over the weekend, a bear in Aspen had to be euthanized after it was found in a local restaurant.

According to the Aspen Times, a young bear found its way into the Sundeck Restaurant on top of Aspen Mountain where it was shot by a restaurant employee with a shotgun and a pistol. Employees were apparently unsuccessful in their effort to scare the bear away.

Officers from the Colorado Division of Wildlife found the injured bear under the restaurant deck and promptly killed it.

The bear had reportedly made several visits to the restaurant in recent weeks. This is just another in a long line of stories of bears getting too close to their human counterparts, and it costs them their lives.
