Historic hotel to expand its live entertainment.

This past spring the famous Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, best known for its starring role in "The Shining", expanded its live performance efforts by adding a state-of-the-art $10 million dollar venue called "The Pavilion Amphitheatre." Now they've partnered with Colorado billionaire Phil Anschutz and his music promotion company AEG Live to expand the hotel's entertainment. Starting next season they plan to schedule up to sixty events a year that will "include exciting new artists and events that grow the diversity and scope of programming."

The Stanley Hotel with its new addition has suddenly become the "cultural hub" of Estes Park. The hotel's promotion company called Stanley Live will be booking shows of all kinds including bands, comedy acts, festivals, and special events. Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Three Dog Night, and other acts are already scheduled to play the hotel. And that's not all. The historic hotel plans to build a 40,000-square-foot horror-film center. That funding will come from an $11.6 million grant from Colorado's Regional Tourism Act.
