Ace Frehley Puts Odds at 50-50 He Will Rejoin KISS

The relationship between Ace Frehley and his former KISS bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons has been complicated at times, but the guitarist seems to be on good terms with both KISS members these days and there has been speculation over the past year that he might eventually return to the band.

Stanley made a guest appearance on Frehley’s covers album, Origins Vol. 1, singing the song “Fire and Water,” and though the KISS vocalist recently told Billboard that he had no interest in a reunion of the original KISS lineup, the rumors about a Frehley return have persisted.

Speaking with Brazil’s Kazagastao, as heard in the player above, Frehley stated that he’s “good friends” with Stanley and added that he had recently crossed paths with Gene Simmons as well. “I just saw Gene about a month ago. He came to my concert in Los Angeles. We hung out all night — very, very, very friendly. He was great with everybody,” said the guitarist.

When asked about the reunion talk, Frehley stated, “I haven’t heard anything, but if I were a betting man, I’d say maybe 50-50. That’s good odds.”

As stated, Stanley recently spoke on the matter, explaining, “The band as it is — I’ve played with [current KISS drummer] Eric Singer for, I think, 25 years and Tommy’s [Thayer, guitar] been in the band probably 15 years at this point. I have no thoughts of revisiting the past. With that said, I am happy to enhance or do whatever I can for anyone who has helped put me where I am, but that doesn’t include getting hitched again to somebody I unhitched from.”

While a return to KISS is not imminent, Frehley is continuing work with his solo career. The guitarist says that after he completes his current touring this month, he’ll resume work on his next studio album, which will be original material. “No title [yet],” says the guitarist, “But it’ll be all originals. And then after that Origins Vol. 2.”
