A Day to Remember, ‘Bad Vibrations’ – September 2016 Release of the Month
When is "bad" really, really good? When you're talking about the new September Release of the Month for Loudwire, as A Day to Remember's Bad Vibrations album has taken the title as voted by our readers. The album led the voting for much of the month, with RavenEye's Nova album making a strong push for the top spot, as well. Meanwhile, Devin Townsend Project's Transcendence, Of Mice & Men's Cold World and Airbourne's Breakin' Outta Hell also put up big voting totals.
For their latest album, A Day to Remember ventured to Colorado to record with producers Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore. Singer Jeremy McKinnon told us, "It was one of the most unique recording experiences we’ve ever had. We rented a cabin in the mountains 30 minutes outside of town and just wrote together in a room, which was the polar opposite of the last three albums we’ve made. And working with Bill was an awesome experience. He was a bit hard to read at first, so I think we subconsciously pushed ourselves harder to try to impress him. As a result, we gave this album everything we had."
The band teased fans earlier this year with the aggressive, frenetically-paced single "Paranoia" that arrived just in time for the band's annual Self Help Festival. For a period this spring, it looked like that single was a stand-alone offering, but a little while later, the group finally revealed that they had indeed finished a new album. That disc is titled Bad Vibrations and fans have been treated to a variety of sounds and styles as the group trotted out the highly heavy title track, the bouncy rocker "Bullfight" and the pop/punk-leaning song "Naivety" in succession. It looks like fans are in for another diverse effort, with the band thriving no matter what the style.
The Bad Vibrations album officially arrives in stores Sept. 2. You can pre-order the effort via Amazon, iTunes or in a variety of bundle options at this location. After a summer of touring with Blink-182, you can look for the band continuing to support the new album this fall. See their dates here.
