The 14th annual “95 Rock Homeless for the Holidays” event is in the books and thanks to all of you we are no longer homeless. The event began at 6am on Wednesday December 18th with Kyle, Bacchus and Tommy Rocker moving into the Wal-Mart parking lot to raise food for the Community Food Bank.

I want to thank Commercial Refuse Service for hooking us up with the fine clean dumpsters to sleep in and yes we really sleep in the dumpsters. The way we do this is to line them out with think cardboard to keep the body heat we build up in and the cold metal away from our bodies.

I want to thank Budweiser for letting us use one of their beer trucks to stockpile the food in. As people come by with their food donations it is very nice to have a clean truck to put them in. Because the beer truck is insulated the food doesn’t get as cold as the outside air and it doesn’t freeze at night.

I want to thank Mesa Feed Mart for letting us use their scales to get the weight of the food. Each year we use their scales to keep a running total of the weight so when we get to our goal we know. Other wise we would never get out of that parking lot.

Most of all I want to thank all of you for coming out and helping us reach our goal. Each year we set out to raise 9,510lbs of food and each year you help surpass that goal. This year in 55 hours we were able to rise just over 11,000lbs of food for the Community Food Bank.

Thank you very much and know that quite a few families in Mesa County will have a good hot meal because of you. Merry Christmas.
